Heading south from Düsseldorf over the Rhine, shot through the windshield while traveling at about 70mph

The two bridges that connect Oberkassel, on the left, with Düsseldorf on the right, over the Rhine. I took this shot from the restaurant at the top of the Rhein Turm
Clicking on Rhein Turm will display a photo of it in a new window

From Oberkassel, standing just above the flood plain, looking over the Rhine toward Düsseldorf

The only bridge over the Mosel river between Cond on the left, and Cochem on the right

The railway bridge over the Wupper river

The newest bridge over the Rhine

This one connects the A44 Autobahn with...

...Düsseldorf Flughafen, the airport. I took this shot from the plane as I departed

This bridge is in the heart of Düsseldorf, in the middle of Konigsalle. Um, Dad?...

...have we been here before? Girardet Brücke (Bridge)- a little bridge with a French and German name

There used to be a bridge here. This is Remagen, on the other side of the Rhine from where I shot this photo. This is where the Allies finally bridged the Rhine in WWII. I have photographed Remagen from both sides of the Rhine. Those shots are here

This is a bridge over the Ahr river, shot on a cold January day. Note the Roman influence in the design of the stone arches

The bridges I've seen in Germany are fascinating in the scope of their design and engineering. I've only presented a few examples here. These bridges, in my mind, are not only lifelines, but works of art
